FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What's inside the bag?
Each piece of Alcohol Ink Artwork is showcased. This means that the artwork is attached to a mat. The mat is then attached to a backing board for stability. Then this unit is sealed inside a clear bag for protection.
What does 'matted to' mean?
When a piece of artwork has a mat or mount attached to it, it forms a cardboard frame so that the art is ready for framing. This helps to elevate a piece of artwork and can also make it larger to fit a larger frame according to your needs.
What size frame do I need?
If the artwork is matted to 11 x 14 inches that is the size frame you need to buy. Simply remove the packaging and clear bag protecting the art and place it in the frame.
If the artwork is matted to 16 x 20 inches that is the size frame you need to buy. Simply remove the packaging and clear bag protecting the art and place it in the frame.
I would like to change the colour or size of the mat before I add a frame, how can I remove the existing mat?
My intention is to showcase the artwork so people can visualise it better, providing the option to either keep the existing mat or allow it to be easily swapped out for a different color or size, according to personal taste.
1. Just take the artwork out of the clear plastic bag.
2. The mat and artwork are attached to the backing board with small pieces of double sided tape. You can carefully separate the mat and artwork from the board by lifting one corner and gently prising it open, repeating on each side.
3. The mat is attached to the artwork with a small amount of masking tape which can be carefully peeled off without damaging the artwork.
4. Avoid touching the alcohol ink with your fingers, as sometimes natural oils can react with the ink and cause smudging.
What does 'double matted' mean?
A double mat consists of two (2) mat boards stacked together, a top mat and a bottom mat. The window opening of the bottom mat surrounds the image. The top mat has a larger window, which allows a small border of the bottom mat, called the reveal, to be shown.
How can I display this art in a different size frame?
Frame and mat size is dependent on your personal taste and the location you wish to hang the art. You can either swap the mat for a different one yourself - some standard size mats are offered for sale in craft stores/online. Or you can have a professional framer re-mat and frame your art to your specifications.
Why don't you sell all of your art with a frame?
There are many different styles and finishes of frames. I feel, in most cases, it's best to allow you to choose the right frame to suit your personal taste and decor. It is also easier to ship an unframed piece of art, ensuring it reaches you, the Art Collector, in perfect condition. Having said that, a small percentage of my art is sold ready framed.
Do you give refunds or exchanges?
In general - No. But your complete satisfaction is of the utmost importance to me. If you have a query, please email me so we can discuss it.
Can I hang my art in full sunlight?
Please avoid exposing your art to sunlight, the materials (especially alcohol inks) are delicate and need to be looked after with care, just as artwork is in galleries and museums. Having said that and following that rule I have not had any problems with my art fading with time.
Plexiglass or glass?
If you wish to protect any framed art make sure to use acrylic plexiglass and not just glass. The plexiglass is much lighter and reflects almost all UV radiation that falls on it, thus preventing exposure to UV and discoloration of art.
Do you sign your art? I don't see a signature.
All my original art is signed, dated and titled on the BACK of the actual art piece (not the mat). This is in case I die and become a famous artist you will be sure to benefit from purchasing my art and being able to show it is an original! (yes, I say that in jest)
I feel that a signature on the front of a piece of art is sometimes a distraction, although I will sign SOME of my canvases in this manner when I think it is aesthetically appropriate.
What is the Certificate of Authenticity?
My original artwork is now supplied with a handwritten Certificate bearing a personalized Seal of Authenticity proving it is an original piece created by me, Linda Fielding.
If I provide my email address are you going to spam me?
We all get way too many emails and I hate when you buy something and are subsequently inundated with discounts etc. I may email you once, after I have emailed you a receipt to ask if you want to be included in the monthly 'Pay it Forward' free draw for a piece of original art/newsletter (coming soon!). But if you do not 'opt in' I will NOT email you again unless you ask me to.
How much are your paintings?
The price can vary depending on whether the artwork is an original or print, sold with a mat, backing board and clear bag or not, packaged and shipped or sold in person, choice of medium and paper or canvas, and lastly the size and complexity. Please contact me if you are interested in a particular piece of artwork to obtain a price accordingly.
Can I commission some Artwork?
A lot of Artwork is difficult to duplicate due to the many variables at the time of creation, this is especially true with Alcohol Ink and Acrylic Pour artwork. You never know exactly how each piece will turn out. However, I have undertaken commissions in the past and if you are interested in a particular color palette, design or vibe, please contact me and we can discuss further.
I have a different question from the ones above
Please email me, we can chat and I will be happy to help you and include your question for the benefit of other Art Collectors.
